July 11th Meeting

HROUG is pleased to announce that Jacob Bardin, with the Sentrigo Security Group, will be speaking at the July 11th, 2007 meeting. Sentrigo an innovative startup focusing on Oracle DB Security. A topic that seems to be on everyone’s minds these days. Jacob will focus his talk on security issues in the real world, discussing the current market issues as well as the various product capabilities.

The July meeting will be an evening meeting, running from about at 6:00PM to 8:30PM. We are hoping to have the meeting at the Cambridge College campus located off Greenbrier Parkway and are still working out the details. We will confirm the location in a later email. So, please jot down the date and make plans to attend the July HROUG meeting. Join us for FREE dinner and a soda.

June 6th Meeting

Hi Everyone,

We are happy to announce that we have lined up our next HROUG meeting for June 6th. System Efficiency, a solutions provider company has offered to come speak to us on service oriented architectures (SOA). At my request, the speakers are going to customize their presentation towards the Oracle/Peoplesoft products, however by utilizing the principals of SOA, there is a broad range of practical and profitable uses for this way of looking at busines needs. This presentation is highly recommended for everyone, especially those of us who have legacy applications and have a need to moderize the presentation of it.

Title: Leveraging PeopleSoft/Oracle technology to enhance your ERP

Abstract:
Organizations IT Systems are generally made up of disparate systems which communicate with each other through some means. How can an organization leverage their existing Technology investment in PeopleSoft/Oracle to improve, enhance and bring together all of these systems? This presentation will outline delivered technology out of the box that allows these disparate systems to integrate and collaborate with each other.

* What the technology is
* How to leverage these technologies to enhance your ERP
* Integrating your in-house and third-party system with your ERP System
* Leveraging Web Services in an SOA world to integrate custom applications into your PeopleSoft System (Home Grown Customer Portal integrated into your PeopleSoft System by leveraging the business logic)
* Leveraging Web Services to complete functions that would otherwise have to be developed or done manually in the upstream process of AR/Billing (Customer Credit Check), (Address Validation), (Sales and Use Tax Calculation)

After the meeting there will elections for the 2007-2009 HROUG Board of Directors. Everyone interested in joining the board should plan to attend. If you can not make it, but wish to be considered, please contact me, or anyone on the HROUG board and we will make sure to include your name on the ballot. Please make sure clarify which position your wanting to get involved with.

There will be several raffles for books and IOUG “COLLABORATE 07″ conference goodies. Must be present to win :-)
